1. Who We Are

Baby Pulse ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Baby Pulse baby care tracking platform. We are based in South Africa. This policy explains how we handle your personal information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your WhatsApp number. We use Supabase Auth to manage authentication; your password is never stored by us in plain text.

2.2 Baby Care Data

You may enter information about your baby including name, date of birth, and care activities (sleep logs, feeding records, diaper changes, medications, notes, photos). This data is stored in our Supabase database and is accessible to members of your family group as configured.

2.3 Photos

Baby photos you upload are stored in Supabase Storage. They are accessible to your family members and anyone you explicitly share a signed link with. We do not use your photos for training AI models or any purpose other than displaying them within your family group.

2.4 Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data (page views, feature usage, error reports) to improve the Service. This data is not linked to your identity.

2.5 Payment Data

Subscription payments are processed by Paddle. We do not see or store your payment card details. Paddle receives your billing information and shares only the transaction status and customer identifier with us.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Service
  • To authenticate you and manage your account
  • To enable sharing of baby care data within your family group
  • To send transactional emails (e.g., password reset, billing receipts)
  • To send optional WhatsApp reports if enabled
  • To generate optional AI-powered daily summaries
  • To diagnose technical issues and improve the Service

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only in these circumstances:

  • Within your family group: Data you enter is visible to other members of your family as determined by their role (owner, co-parent, nanny).
  • Service providers: We use Supabase (database, auth, storage), Paddle (payment processing), Groq (AI summaries), and Vercel (hosting). Each provider processes data only as necessary to perform their function and is contractually bound to protect it.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

We never sell your personal information or baby care data to third parties.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase servers, currently hosted in the European Union (EU) region. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own family data
  • Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Server-side subscription enforcement
  • JWT-based authentication via Supabase Auth

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Backup copies may persist for up to 14 additional days.

7. Your Rights

Under South African law (POPIA) and applicable data protection regulations, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (via Settings > Data Management)
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

8. Children's Data

The Service is designed for parents and caregivers to track information about their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The data entered about children is provided by their parent or legal guardian who controls that information.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication (Supabase auth session cookies). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. You can control cookie settings through your browser.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
